Site Owner Frequently Asked Questions
How many sites can I add to the network?
You can add as many sites as you like. There is no limit.
Can I add sites that are on subdomains or in subfolders?
Yes, you can add those sites.
Can I add sites that are hosted on the free WordPress.com service?
No, unfortunately we don't allow that. Automated publishing of posts that contain links of possible commercial intent (backlink generation) is against the terms of service of WordPress.com. Their employees are very good at spotting blogs that do that, and they immediately disable those blogs. By not allowing WordPress.com blogs on our network, we're just saving you from a lot of wasted effort.
Can I add sites that are hosted on Blogger.com or Tumblr.com?
You used to be able to, but not any more. Those services don't seem to like blogs that consist mostly of posts with SEO-type links. They tend to disable those blogs after a few weeks. By blocking the addition of those sites, we're just saving you a lot of work.
What user id must I enter on the site add page?
You must enter a user id that registered on your site and that has post publishing permissions on your site. We'd prefer if you don't enter your administrator user id, but the choice is yours. For WordPress, the user must at least be an "Author". On WordPress, a "Contributor" is not allowed to publish new posts. When your receive error emails that says, "Sorry, you are not allowed to publish posts on this blog," then you know the user id that you supplied doesn't have the necessary post publishing permissions.

Do I need to upload and install any software on my site?
No, there's nothing to upload and install on your site. We use remote publishing APIs that already exist in your site's software. It's super easy to connect your site to the network.
I've added many sites, why don't I see my name in the Top 15 Site Contributors?
It just means that those folks have added more sites than you. Keep adding sites until you see your name in that list. There's no magic formula to that list. It's calculated based on straight number of sites added.
What are the rules in terms of the articles that I receive on my site?
You are not allowed to modify or remove the hyperlinks in the article in any way whatsoever. You're also not allowed to copy and post the same article somewhere else as your own work. You're welcome to correct grammar or spelling errors. You're also welcome to insert additional links of your own, including using a plugin that automatically converts certain keyphrases to hyperlinks with your affiliate links. You can insert ads or images into the text. In fact, apart from the two rules above (changing or removing hyperlinks and copying the article), you're free to do what you want. It's your blog.
Does your system add anything to the articles that are published on my site?
No, our system publishes articles exactly as they were submitted by the article author. We never add anything to the article.

Will your system create a footprint on my site?
No, it won't. Since articles can be of any length above the required minimum word count, doesn't (or rather shouldn't) contain author boxes, and we don't add anything to the article, once published on your site it looks like something you have written and published yourself by clicking the publish button in your site's admin panel.
I want to receive a large number of articles per day, but I seem to be receiving far fewer articles than I want?
The number of articles that you receive on a daily basis will depend on the balance between the number of sites in the network and the number of articles available for publishing at any given point in time. Our proprietary algorithms spread articles amongst blogs to ensure a fair allocation of available articles across all sites. We have certain throttles in place to prevent one site from sucking up all available articles while other sites either receive no articles or must wait days to receive any.
What's the best way to map my categories?
We recommend that you do a one-to-one mapping from article category to blog category. That means, in the blog category select box, click and highlight only one of your blog categories. You can select as many as you like, but if you select more than one category in the same select box, posts from that article category will be published in more than one blog category and that could lead to duplicate content issues on your blog.
Where do the errors that I receive by email come from?
Our system sends you those emails when it encounters an error when it tries to publish a post to your blog. Except for "CURL" errors, the error text in the email is text that was generated by your site. We capture that error text and include it in the email to help you debug and solve the issue.

How do I solve "XML-RPC services are disabled on this blog" errors received from a WordPress blog?
Please read this blog post for more information.
How do I solve "Bad login/pass combination" errors?
Edit your site entry in our system and supply the correct user id and password that has access on your blog. You may run into issues if you have special characters, such as ")" in your password. Try a modified password with only alphanumeric characters.
How do I solve "CURL error: Couldn't resolve host" errors?
Wait at least a day to see if you get the same error again. Sometimes these errors occur when there's a network hiccup with the DNS name lookup on the web. If you receive the same error multiple times, then there is a real problem with the DNS entry of your domain, and you should ask your hosting provider or domain registrar to investigate.

How do I solve "parse error. not well formed" errors received from a WordPress blog?
Unfortunately, there is no definitive answer. However, one possible reason is that your blog has been hacked and ads are being injected into the XML data that is being sent back to our system. Another possible reason is that your WordPress upgrade didn't work properly, and the version of the XMLRPC script in your installation is out of sync with the rest of your WordPress files. Yet another reason could be that you're running an old WordPress version on PHP5, and that introduces a bug in the old WordPress XMLRPC interface. You could try this Google search for more information.
How do I solve "CURL error: Operation timed out" errors received from a WordPress blog?
Please read this blog post for more information.
Why did my site disappear from my site portfolio?
Either your site was found to be unacceptable by the site administrators, or your site has generated errors on publishing for three days in a row and you didn't fix the errors. Maintaining a high-quality site network is important, and we remove sites that could cause problems. If you are receiving errors, and you want more than three days to fix them, please submit a support ticket and request an extension.

How can I test if your system will be able to publish posts on my site?
Try publishing a post on your site with one of the desktop blogging tools, such as ScribeFire, Windows Live Writer, Ecto, etc. If you can do that successfully, then our system will be able to publish posts on your site, because we use exactly the same remote publishing API on your site that those tools use.
Are there any domain names that you frown upon?
Any domain, subdomain, or folder name in your site URL that could identify ArticleMarketingAutomation, that your site is receiving articles from our system, or that could hint that your site is about PLR (Private Label Rights) articles is seriously frowned upon. With anything like that in your URL, there's a high likelihood that your site will be removed from the network without notice. The same goes for any text on your site.
Do not add sites that use numerals to differentiate them from other similar sites. For example, if you add a range of sites called computers123.domain.com, computers124.domain.com, computers125.domain.com, etc., they will be deleted from the network. The same goes for www.domain.com/computers123, www.domain.com/computers124, www.domain.com/computers125, etc., and any clever variation thereof. We never imagined that people would try and add that kind of junk to the network, but we learned our lesson with the competition. We have deleted and will continue to delete sites that are named in that manner. It's far better for you to add a smaller number of sites that add value to the network, than to try and add hundreds of junk sites to the network. You save yourself and us a lot of time.
I received an article for approval, but when I click the link in the email the system says the article doesn't exist -- is that a bug?
No, it's not a bug. That happens when the article owner deletes the article between the time that the system sent you that email and the time that you click the approval or rejection link.

Will I get articles for my site every day of the week?
No, not necessarily. You will get articles when there are articles available for your site. The availability of articles depends on several factors, including the categories that you selected to receive, and/or the keywords that you specified. Don't be concerned if you don't receive articles for a period of time. The system is working. It will send you articles as soon as available articles are matched with your site.
Can the system schedule or spread out the posting of the articles that I receive on a specific day?
There really is very little point in doing so. It's true that, if you selected to receive five articles per day, the system will post all five to your blog at the same time. Here's the thing. Google probably visits your site every 3 to 4 days. When it visits, it finds a number of new blog posts to index. It has no idea that some of them were posted on your blog at the same time. Hence, there's very little point in "spreading out" the posting of your daily consignment of articles. However, if it does bother you, simply select to receive one article per day.
